ProtoPOD includes a 5V 1A regulator circuit to power the PIC and prototype circuit.

An external 7 -12 V DC plug pakor a 9 V battery may be used to power the board. Rectifier (D1) ensures that connecting the supply reversed can not damage the circuit. With the addition of a second rectifier and an electro on the prototype array, an AC pak up to 12 VAC maybe used to provide dual rails for the prototype area. The 7805 regulator also includes current limiting and thermal shutdown in the event of overload.
