Raspberry Pi Zero W, a wireless wonder for only $10 !
Raspberry Pi Zero goes wireless completing the picture first sketched just over a year ago with the original.
The new model adds the missing link; wireless connectivity. We like it!
This tiny little piece of Pi is a full computer:
- 1GHz, Single-core CPU
- 512MB RAM
- Mini-HDMI port
- Micro-USB OTG port
- Micro-USB power
- HAT-compatible 40-pin header
- Composite video and reset headers
- CSI camera connector
All this is the same as the last edition of the original version (V1.3).
The game changer in this one is full support for Bluetooth 4.0 and 2.4GHz 802.11n Wi-Fi!
It's the same wireless connectivity that impressed us at the Raspberry Pi 3 launch this time last year.
BitScope Pi Zero + One
Since the Raspberry Pi team told us about it we've been hard at work looking into BitScope solutions.
BitScope is fully compatible with Raspberry Pi already and since Raspberry Pi 3 we've had wireless connectivity.
What's interesting here is the size and the price of Pi Zero Wireless when combined with a compact Bitscope model like BitScope Micro. Shown here is a conceptual model of what we have in mind.
It's early days but our testing with the original Pi Zero shows that it's more than capable of handling BitScope. After all, it's got the same chip as the original Raspberry Pi which we used to build our first BitScope Electronics Lab.
Its the same whether you're running the full desktop, remotely via VNC or taking advantage of BitScope Server.
We'll report some more as soon as we get the stock in.
