BITSCOPE about OPEN DESIGN

The correct appearance of this website is only visible in graphical browsers that support web standards. We try to ensure our content is accessible to any browser but we recommend you upgrade your web browser if you can.

Open design hardware is similar to open source software. It is available "in source form".

In our case this means the hardware designs may be browsed online, or copies may be downloaded free of charge, enabling you to build your own systems for personal use.

GNU. Linux.

We have been inspired by the open source concept that has given the world great system software like the GNU tools, the Linux kernel, the Apache web server, and the Perl programming language, to name but a few.

The idea of collaborative development where source code is shared under an open licence such as GNU has proven so powerful that many companies are now using these systems.

Some time ago Netscape adopted the open model for development of their new web browser taking the idea a step further by moving it into application software.

Here, we're taking the idea another step forward and applying it to hardware design as well.

We hope our open philosophy will encourage you to learn more about designing your own hardware and assist you to develop your own software for BitScope.
